Every month should be Child Abuse Prevention Month. As a parent educator, mother of three children and former preschool teacher, I am appalled by the growing rate of child abuse, neglect, maltreatment and murders in our country and even in our own state of North Carolina. According to state statistics, abuse against children has increased almost each year, by as much as 40 percent or more! Country wide it is even higher.

Can you really be a work at home Mom with a toddler in the home? Yes! Here are my tips and tricks for making it happen.

1. Work Schedule

What are the elements of quality child care? To determine the appropriate child care provider for your baby or toddler, you need to sit down and list your requirements. Do you want quality child care in a setting that's nearly similar to home? Or do you want quality child care from a large center whose facilities almost mimic those of a traditional school setting? Both types of day care centers can equally provide quality child care, but they differ in several ways. One, an in-home provider almost always takes in fewer students and sometimes have lower teacher to student ratios.

The Right Baby Mattress A great place to find a good deal on a baby mattress is right in your local newspaper. You should find some listings from parents selling the mattresses their babies have outgrown, along with other baby related items as well. There are also numerous resources on the internet such as message boards, online newspapers and bargain or freebie sites, not to mention all of the online retailers anxious for your business. Measure Twice It's a wise idea to have all the measurements of the crib and nursery when looking for a baby mattress.
